Complete Integration

Complete Integration

From the beginning, one of our goals at Fleming has been to create watches that are greater than the sum of their parts, with all of the small choices influencing one another and building toward a common goal. We call this “complete integration” and it guides everything we do.

In practice, what does this look like? On the wrist, a watch isn’t experienced as a collection of individual traits or components. The fit of the case impacts the look of the dial. The architecture of the movement influences the proportions of the case. The finishes reflect off one another creating an effect they couldn’t achieve individually.

This gives us a clear mission: To design watches as complete wholes, rather than assembling existing components or mixing-and-matching elements across references. Each Fleming watch is a cohesive unit, meant to be experienced in its own way and on its own terms.

Series 1 Mark II detail

The Series 1 Mark II is the fullest expression of this philosophy yet. For example, the large black-polished ring on the dial references classic sector dials, but it also echoes the polished band that runs around the perimeter of the midcase, passing through the openworked lugs. Likewise, the Pacific and Redwood variations each have their own distinct movement finishing, with the Pacific’s FM-02 featuring dark anthracite bridges and wheels and the Redwood’s showing gold tones that reference those found on the dial. No element is taken for granted.

We design the case, dial, and movement as one continuous whole. Many watches treat the movement as a separate design exercise. We take a different approach. The FM.02 is a continuation of the case and dial, and all components are held to the same finishing standard, whether visible or not.

One of the ways we achieve this is through our in-house design process. While we work with incredible partners like Chronode, Fabrika, and others for manufacturing, finishing, and assembly, we do not buy off-the-shelf components or surrender design control to anyone else. If something isn’t right for one of our watches, it isn’t right, and we hold ourselves accountable to a no-compromises approach.

This philosophy doesn’t just guide each individual watch – it guides how we grow Fleming as a brand and our catalogue, too. The Series 1 Mark II advances our pursuit of complete integration, building on the foundations laid by the Launch Edition. As we look to the future, each Fleming watch must fulfill this promise and offer something new in the process. It’s a big challenge, but it’s one that motivates us every day.
